BORACAY Island – The Aklan Provincial Engineer’s office (PEO) defended the plan of the provincial government to establish a water-based route from the Kalibo International Airport to this resort island saying it will only be seasonal.
Earlier, business sectors expressed doubt over the success of the proposed water-based route as the location is an open sea putting tourists onboard at risk.
Engr. Victory Fernandez, PEO chief, said that based on their original plan the water-based route will be made available only on seasonal basis.
"If the weather is sunny we will allow the operation of the water-based route but not pursue the operation when it is stormy," said Fernandez.
However, the Aklan provincial government is currently studying how to strengthen the operation of the proposed water-based route. (PNA)
