Mabugat, quoting witnesses, said that Galagate shot Celso Cari-an Sr., alleged bodyguard of Cheryl Begota, secretary of sugar trader Herminia Ledesma, who was divested of P2 million at gunpoint.
Galagate, according to Mabugat, is a son of former rebel leader Bonifacio Galagate, while Gonzales has a pending case for violation of RA 9165, or the Comprehensive Drugs Act of 2002 and is out on bail.
According to witnesses, Cari-an, 67, was shot by one of the suspects when he tried to fight them off as they were forcibly grabbing the bag containing cash from Begota, 32.
Mabugat asked the public to immediately report the presence of Galagate and Gonzales, if they are sighted in their neighborhoods, to the nearest police station.
He added that as soon as the court issues the warrant of arrest against the two suspects, this will be forwarded to other police stations to hasten their apprehension.
