THE DEPARTMENT of Trade and Industry (DTI) is providing assistance for the realization of the P2-billion development project in Sicogon, Island in Carles town.

DTI Iloilo manager Wilhelm Malones said DTI is helping Sicogon Development Corporation to comply with the requirements so it could avail of incentives being given by the Iloilo Investment Promotion Board.

“Since the development project is tourism oriented we also help the developer meet the standards of facilities for accreditation of the Department of Tourism,” Malones said.

Sicogon Development Corporation intends to put up high end resort in the island.

"And once this project pushes through, it could generate employment and become a new attraction for Panay next to Boracay island," she said. (PNA)

By: Wenceslao E. Mateo Jr.

I REMEMBER city tourism officer Ben Jimena emphasizing to this columnist that this year’s Dinagyang will have less of the props in both the Ati-ati and Kasadyahan competitions.

They do nothing but distract the spectators from the real competition, which is the Kasadyahan cultural dance and the war dance in the Ati-ati competition, he even said. Read more...

(A response to the welcome address of President Noynoy Aquino)

IN his welcome address to Pope Francis in Malacañang a week ago (Jan. 16, 2015), President Benigno Aquino III paid tribute to the courage of the clergy during Martial Law and for vividly living up to the vision of “the Church of the poor and the oppressed” that “nourished compassion, faith and courage of the Filipino people … This allowed millions to come together as a single community of faith and make possible the miracle of the EDSA People Power Revolution.”  Read more...

Pursuing the truth

January 27,2015 12:50 AM
