NBA cites Andersen for knocking Hansbrough to the floor, escalating the altercation by shoving him and resisting efforts to end the incident

The league upgraded Andersen's flagrant foul to level two and he will not be eligible to play on Saturday (Sunday, PHL time) in Indiana.

At the 9:02 mark of the second quarter of their game Thursday (Friday, PHL time), as players moved up the court, Andersen suddenly slammed into Hansbrough, seemingly without provocation. As Hansbrough stood his ground, Andersen went up and shoved him, causing referees to step in.

Game officials, after reviewing the situation, handed out technical fouls to both players, and a flagrant foul one to Andersen, allowing him to stay in the game.

Andersen, who goes by the nickname "Bird Man," wound up playing 18 minutes, finishing with four points, four rebounds, a steal and two blocks. The Heat wound up winning 90-79, for a 3-2 series lead.

In an interview with NBC Sports Radio, set to be aired on Sunday at 8am EST, NBA commissioner David Stern said that Andersen "should have been ejected," and added, "I looked at the replays, and it seems to me, there was no immediate push or shove of him, he just hauled off and knocked down [Indiana Pacer] Tyler Hansbrough. I don't know what he was doing. And then pushed him. And then he did not go gracefully to the bench."

The incident is similar to what happened in the previous round, when Chicago Bulls center Nazr Mohammed shoved Heat star LeBron James after being knocked to the floor. Mohammed though was ejected from the game, but did not draw any additional fines or suspensions.
