ROXAS City -- President Benigno Simeon Aquino III unveiled yesterday morning the P48-million Roxas City Airport development projects.

The project is part of the P215 million earmarked by the Aquino administration for the improvement of the airport system of Capiz’s capital city two years ago.

The airport rehabilitation project, according to Roxas City Mayor Celino, was included in the budget of the Department of Transportation and Communications when Manuel “Mar” Roxas was then the secretary.  .

Celino said the development project for Roxas City Airport will involve the construction of runway extension with a length of 120 meters and width of 45 meters, perimeter fence, and rehabilitation and expansion of the passenger terminal building.

It was the second visit of Aquino after he was elected President in 2010. He was here last February for a meeting with the Liberal Party(LP) local leaders.

After the inauguration, the President proceeded to Mambusao town to meet with the local leaders and candidates of the Liberal Party in Capiz.

He also endorsed the candidacies of Capiz Second District congressional bet Mary Andaya, Mambusao mayoral bet Sharon Martinez-Martelino, among others.

Martelino is the daughter of the late Vice Mayor Abel Martinez who was shot dead in the morning of May 4, 2012 by two motorcycle riding-in-tandem suspects.

With Aquino were Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas II and Transportation and Communications Secretary Rolando Abaya.

Also with him were Team PNoy senatorial candidates Cynthia Villar, Jamby Madrigal, and Rep. Sonny Angara.
