AROUND 936 dependent or immediate family members of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) are expected to benefit from the partnership project of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) and Microsoft Philippines this 2012.
The DOLE-OWWA Tulay Microsoft Project according to OWWA 6 regional director Samuel Madrid was aimed at providing Information Technology (IT) training and technology access to OFWs and their families to enable them to communicate using the internet.
In addition to providing linkage to their families, the OFWs will have an increased value in their workplace because of the IT skills they have acquired.
The training covers basic computer application such as MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and internet and e-mail use.
As of February 21, Madrid said they have already conducted 30 sessions benefiting some 386 Ilonggos.
However, they would also accommodate other sectors, particularly those who need computer education if there are slots available, he added. (PNA)
