BENEFICIARIES of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) in San Remigio, Antique received P2 million for their livelihood projects.
The assistance came in the form of a seed capital under the Self Employment Assistance-Kaunlaran Program, a Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) livelihood and capability building program aimed at enhancing the socio-economic skills of poor families towards establishing and managing sustainable community-based credit organizations for entrepreneurial development.
Those who received the DSWD livelihood assistance were Bulahan Self-Employment Assistance-Kaunlaran Association received P215,000; Maragubdob SKA, P215,000; Hilway SKA, P190,000; Damayan SKA, P159,000; Baladjay SKA, P151,000; La Union SKA, P135,000; Bugana SKA, P100,000; and Paghimakas SKG, P74,000.
According to Mary Ann Masculino, Regional Project Development Officer of DSWD 6, the agency targets to reach 100 percent of all beneficiaries of Pantawid Pamilya to have sustainable livelihood.
“We are targeting all beneficiaries of the program for Sustainable Livelihood. This year, our target is to reach all under Set 1 and 2 (which refers to those who started as recipients in 2008 and are set to graduate in the program by 2013),” said Masculino.
According to Masculino, the beneficiaries of Pantawid Pamilya are expected to graduate from the program next year, the agency is strategizing on ensuring that the recipients have sources of income. The two exit strategies are: first, provision of seed capital and training through SEA-K; and second, accessing the beneficiaries to gainful employment.
She said accessing the beneficiaries to work is jointly undertaken by DSWD, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Technical Educations Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Department of Agriculture, Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Department of Trade and Industry and other agencies.
The DPWH implements Trabahong Lansangan wherein Pantawid Pamilya grantees are hired to do road construction and repair work; DOLE includes them in their online registry for possible jobs; and DOST, TESDA and DTI hold livelihood trainings. (PNA)
